Dalit woman gangraped and filmed in Telangana, 3 arrested

Three persons, including two juveniles, were held for allegedly gangraping a 23-year-old Dalit woman and filming the act to blackmail her.
The incident, which took place on February 10 in Veenavanka mandal of Karimnagar district, came to light late on Saturday after the victim's parents lodged a complaint with the police.

On Sunday , a large number of women and Dalit organisations staged street protests and gheraoed finance minister Etela Rajender at Karimnagar, forcing the police to arrest the accused.

The juvenile offenders were sent to a juvenile home, while the prime accused Gotte Sri nivas, 20, was remanded to judicial custody in Karimnagar jail. The victim is an engineering student. She came in contact with Srinivas and others at a private training centre for police recruitment.Srinivas took the woman with him on a motorcycle with the promise to give her study material that will help her in the police recruitment.
