ALLAHABAD: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Thursday issued an ultimatum to the Centre, stating it would announce a date for the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya if the government did not frame a special law or call a joint session of the Parliament on the matter.
The announcement was made in a meeting of the VHP’s central advisory committee, the Kendriya Margdarshak Mandal, which demanded a special judiciary bench to hear the controversial matter, aside from calling for a dedicated ministry to protect cows in the country.
The committee plans on finalising a date and time to begin the construction of the temple at the ‘Sant Samagam’ during the Ujjain Kumbh in April and May.
Swami Va sudevan and Saraswati, who chaired the meeting, also called for an immediate end to the acquisition of matths and temples in the country, aside from a dedicated cow ministry.
International general secretary of VHP, Champat Rai demanded that the animal be declared the ‘Rashtriya Prani’ and cow rearing be made compulsory at all jails and cantonments.
