‘Custody torture’: Youth dies in Kerala

A 39-year-old man from Marangattupally near Pala in Kerala’s Kottayam district on Saturday succumbed to the injuries he allegedly suffered in torture in police custody. The Marangattupally police had taken him into custody 12 days ago. The Kerala Police Sub-Inspector said to be responsible for the custody torture has been suspended from service.
Sibi alias Sibichan (39) of Parakkal House in Marangattupally died on Saturday due to a massive injury he had suffered in the head, said doctors of the Government Medical College Hospital in Kottayam where he had been undergoing treatment for the past 11 days.
