Ranaghat nun rape case: CID submits first chargesheet, does not include ‘rapist’

The CID on Monday submitted the chargesheet into the robbery at a convent school in Ranaghat and rape of a 71-year-old nun in March but did not name the main accused, who is allegedly the rapist.
While the incident had taken place on March 13, the CID submitted the chargesheet on the 86th day after being handed the case. The report was submitted to the GRO office of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Bishnu Baran Mondal of the Ranaghat court. Bijay Kumar Yadav, the CID investigation officer, submitted the chargesheet against the five accused — Salim Sheikh, Gopal Sarkar, Khaleda Rahaman Mintoo, Milan Sarkar and Ohidul Seikh.
